Welcome to the Galveston Aikikai!
The term, ‘Aikikai’ basically means a ‘gathering of Aikidoka’ or those who practice Aikido. It also can mean a gathering of friends. In the style of Aikido practiced here, there are no competitions. We all work to strengthen each other’s practice. As one instructor puts it, “like sharpening stones and steel.”
Galveston Aikikai practices at Clear
Lake Shotokan Dojo in League
City, TX.

About Aikido
Aikido is considered a ‘shin budo’, or ‘modern martial Way’, being developed by Ueshiba Morihei (known now as ‘O’sensei’ or ‘Great Teacher’), after many years of studies in classical Japanese martial arts which included empty-hand techniques, sword and spear techniques.
A both practical and highly satisfying Art, Aikido can be practiced by young and old. For more information go to More About Aikido. Interested beginners should check out our section on how to get started.
